Gaia Project – Auction rules
There are two auction modes.
At the end of the game, each player has their victory points deducted by their bid.
Choose while bidding
The first player chooses a faction.
Then, the players can either bid on an existing faction or choose another faction. The players keep their faction and cannot bid on other factions, unless someone else outbids them on their chosen faction.
The turn order of the first round is the order in which the factions were first chosen.
Random factions
If "Random factions" is enabled, the players can choose factions from a preselected pool corresponding to the number of players: if there are 3 players, 3 factions are chosen randomly and players can pick only from those three factions.
Example
2 players
- P1 chooses Ivits
- P2 bids 2 on Ivits
- P1 chooses Geodens
This results in:
- Turn order: Ivits, Geodens
- Factions: P2 has Ivits, P1 has Geodens
At the end of the game, P2 will lose 2 victory points
3 players
- P1 chooses Ivits
- P2 bids 2 on Ivits
- P3 chooses Geodens
- P1 bids 1 on Geodens
- P2 cannot bid, as P2 already has the winning bid on Ivits
- P3 chooses Itars
This results in:
- Turn order: Ivits, Geodens, Itars
- Factions: P1 has Geodens, P2 has Ivits, P3 has Itars
At the end of the game, P2 will lose 2 victory points and P1 will lose 1 victory point
Choose factions, then bid
The players choose factions in order.
Then, the players can either bid on factions. The players keep their bid until someone outbids them. When all factions have been bid on, bidding stops.
The turn order of the first round is the order in which the factions were first chosen.
Random factions
If "Random factions" is enabled, the factions are randomly selected and bidding starts immediately.
